The purpose of Fordwrench is to look at the flip side of design – mainly Industrial Design, but the overall practice of design as we’ve become accustomed to it in the Industrialized West.
Design, in the sense of planning in advance for the utilization of materials, the fabrication of objects, and the deliberate use of time and effort, is a basic part of being human. The industrial commercialization of our world and the specialized roles we’re encouraged to take in society pre-fabricates and pre-plans much of our daily lives, if we allow it to. Fordwrench will explore ways of taking a more active role in planning our days and shaping the objects around us.
